Lifetime Achievement Award
With a career spanning more than 55 years, Malcolm Wray is a true stalwart of the British pest control industry, having joined Rentokil in 1970 as a foot technician in Manchester. After reaching retirement age, Malcolm’s passion for the industry didn’t wane, he chose to stay on, moving into a service management and stores role.
Local Authority
of the Year
Liverpool City Council has cut its requests for pest control services down by 10,000 over the last six years. A new project has seen 1,600 bin hubs installed across the city, which has enabled the pest control department to take on an extra three technicians, taking the headcount to nine technicians.
Pest Business
of the Year
Rentokil Pest Control is at the forefront of innovation and over the last five years has built and developed its Connect platform to monitor and control rodents quickly and effective without relying on rodenticides. The business has made no secret of its desire to lead the industry away from rodenticides.
Pest Controller
of the Year
Iain is an all-rounder at Pest Solutions and says that the stakes are now higher with his client base that includes large scale food facilities. Within the next 12 months, Iain hopes to be working as a field biologist for the Glasgow-based business.
Small Company
of the Year
Dealey Environmental, which has grown 40% over the last two years, has ambitious plans for growth, and really wants to get all of its 18 pest controllers through the Advanced Technician qualification.
Sole Trader of the Year
Looking ahead, Matthew Arnold, who supports a number of other pest controllers, has bold plans not to just be a technician, he wants to be the owner of a company that employs good technicians.
Sustainability Initiative of the Year
Richard is pushing falconry as a solution as much as he can and says the objective of his business is to prevent pest infestations, and not to be reactive. He says that lethal methods are the last resort, but he prefers to try and do things ethically and humanely.
Unsung Hero
of the Year
Charley Swann is the backbone of Eradikil Pest Control, and with a passion for teaching, she is getting involved in training commercial customers to catch early signs of bed bug infestations.
Young Pest Controller of the Year
Beth has already achieved Level 3 and there’s no stopping her. She has a passion for helping customers and says that communication is key when getting to know new customers.
